We are thrilled to have Jen Cushman visit JAG to be our guest teacher in May. She will also be giving the presentation at our May meeting. For those not familiar with Jen’s jewelry process she is the author of Making Metal Jewelry; How to Stamp, Forge, Fold and Form Metal Jewelry Designs (North Light 2013) and Explore, Create, Resinate: Mixed Media Techniques Using ICE Resin. Jen writes a mixed-media jewelry column for Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine called “The Mixed Media Metalsmith”. Her work has been published in Belle Armoire Jewelry, Belle Armoire, Altered Couture, Somerset Studios, Somerset Home, Somerset Workshop, Somerset Life, Mingle, Wirework, Bead Design Studio and Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine amongst others.
Jen is a natural storyteller who found mixed media art more than a decade ago and never looked back. She is drawn to the imperfect, the funky, the quirky, the artsy and the authentic: be it people or objects of art. She is an enthusiastic and supportive instructor and teaches more than art-making techniques. She encourages others to explore their authentic, creative process to create personalized work infused with imagery and storytelling. She is also Vice President/Partner of Susan Lenart Kazmer LLC/ICE Resin.
Take a class or just come to the May 15th meeting and spend the evening with Jen. We will get to see and hear all about her creative work and process. Learn more at www.jencushman.com.
