January’s planning meeting was well attended and many great suggestions were made in the survey and at the meeting.
JAG’s new President, Bob Galivan, thanked Past President Judith Casale for her service to the guild. Mariela Corte presented Judith with a framed collection of charms made by guild members. Susana Braun was thanked for her term as Past President.

Kathleen Dustin, who was to present a workshop this weekend, cancelled due to illness. Her workshop has been rescheduled for May. Those who signed up for her workshop will be able to sign up for the new date first. Guild member Lynn Yuhr will teach a polymer class this weekend on very short notice. February 19, 20, & 21 Cynthia Rutledge will teach three one day classes. Classes are open for registration on the class page, all of the classes have open seats at the time of the meeting.
March 17, 18, 19 & 20th Richard Salley will teach three classes. These are now open for registration at the class page to members at early bird discount pricing.
April 16 & 17 Rodrick Owen will teach a 2-day beginner class on Peruvian Braid on the Marudai. April 18, 19, & 20 he will teach an advanced Peruvian Braids on Marudai class.
The Miami Mini Maker Faire will be held on February 20th & 21st at National YoungArts Foundation Campus , 2100 Biscayne Boulevard. This could be a possible local venue for member sales. The guild can have a table for free to do demos and advertise the guild, anyone interested should email Bob Galivan. Link to Maker Faire Miami website.
Shirley Drevich, a past member and acclaimed jewelry artist turned photographer will be having a destash sale March 5th. This will include many jewelry tools, supplies, beads, precious stones, and pearls. More info coming soon.

Guest Debbie Korge, Director of Developement for Women’s Fund spoke about the work of the organization and the many ways they support projects for women and girls. She asked that members again donate a piece of jewelry to their fund raiser, The Power of the Purse. Items can be brought to either the February or March meetings and Bob Galivan will deliver them to The Women’s Fund.
Bob Galivan covered the member survey that was sent to over 80 members. At this time there were only 38 responses. Of special interest to members is opportunities for members to sell their work and to increase opportunities for members to socialize. Many good additional suggestions came from the members in attendance at the meeting.
The raffle for Laura McCabe’s Urchin Bracelet kit was won by Vicki Colburn. Members must be present to win raffle prizes.
Bob made a call for members to volunteer to help the guild grow and increase continuity in the jobs done. A call for an assistant to Kim Sokolow, Workshop Chair, an assistant to the Retreat Coordinator and a Publicity person are the critical needs at this time.
