What is it? Is it for you? Where do you start?
An introduction to art journaling will be presented at our April meeting. Art journals can range from a simple sketchbook to a handmade painted journal. We will look inside some of these journals and examine how they might fit into your creative process. Come in and see the many options available to you. And the best part is, there are no rules, you can do what you want to, the way you want to!
Our own Lynn Yuhr, who is better known for her polymer clay work, is also obsessed with art journaling. She has incorporated it into her life as a daily journal, travel journals, idea sketchbooks as well as special journals for conferences and workshops. An array of her journals will be shared as examples of what can be done.
Lynn Yuhr has lived in Miami most of her life and has always had a love of nature. She has focused on hand-crafted arts such as jewelry, creating art journals and books, and jumping into mixed-media that often uses nature as a focal point. She holds a firm belief that the act of creating something softens one’s heart and opens one’s mind. She is a founding member and past-president of the South Florida Jewelry Arts Guild (2005) and has taught at a number of local venues including South Florida Jewelry Arts Guild and Fairchild Gardens as well as at national venues and retreats.
Have you been thinking about joining SFJAG? Thursday, April 19, would be the perfect time to come check us out. Non-members can attend one meeting for free before joining.
