One lucky member will win tuition to attend
This year’s retreat is going to be better, better, better than ever! Great projects, great friends, and (oh my) the rewards. read on for all the details!
Club Med is an all-inclusive resort. The retreat price includes everything – food, drink, room, and great classes with fellow members. Guests are welcome, and you can extend your stay if you like – just let us know so we can notify the resort and check pricing for the extra nights. Club Med is a lovely vacation spot, just 2 hours from Miami on the St. Lucie River.
This Year’s Entertainment
We are changing things up this year! After class on Saturday evening we’re going to have a guild cocktail party with food and drink for all. After enjoying each other’s company, we’re going to have our prize drawings for attendees.
Brown Bag Raffle
We are asking each member to bring a jewelry-related item – something you’ve made would be very special – valued at $20 or more for the raffle. The guild will have brown paper bags at registration for each member to hold the contributions. Participation is voluntary; at the party, each member will bring their bag and receive a raffle ticket in exchange. Throughout the evening, tickets will be drawn, and – just like our birthday raffle – the winner can choose one of the gifts. You’re free to exchange gifts with other members if you like.
William Holland School Grand Prize
The pinnacle of the party will be a drawing for a one-week gift certificate to William Holland! The certificate will be good for classes through their 2019 season. William Holland school is located in NW Georgia, and offers a wide range of classes in many artistic disciplines. You can read about there at their site, www.lapidaryschool.org. Please read the rules for this contest at the bottom of this page.
After our cocktail party, our space will be open for socializing, working on projects, or gaming – Harriet proposed a Rummy-Q tournament, and we’re going to try to have some other games on hand (of course, you can bring or invent your own). For those who attended last year, Club Med’s shows are part of the package, so feel free to grab a table in one of their venues, attend a show, or just hang by the pool and enjoy the facilities.
Our member projects are the heart of the retreat. As we get the data from members, we’ll be posting the projects on the Retreat Projects page so please visit.
What is the annual retreat?
Each year, guild members volunteer to “teach-it-forward,” sharing our knowledge in a variety of jewelry-making disciplines with each other. In past years, topics have included beadweaving, kumihimo, metalwork, tassel making, polymer clay, wirework, resin, enameling, and much, much more. All the classes are free. All you pay for are the accommodations – which are all inclusive! Its a really good deal!
Payment is split into two equal amounts. If you are registering for Single, $210 is due with your initial registration. If you are registering for a double, the deposit is $175.00. If you are bringing a guest, the rate for the guest for the 3 days is the same (since classes are free); the deposit is $350.00. The second payment will be invoiced on August 1st, 2017.
If you would like to stay longer than the retreat (before or after), the additional days must be booked through SFJAG. Please note in the from arrival/departure dates and we will request pricing and availability for the room.
Cancellation Policy: You can cancel up to July 12th, and received a full refund, less a $25.00 processing fee. If you cancel after July 12th, but before August 25th, your deposit is forfeit. There are no refunds or cancellations after August 25th, but you can transfer your reservation to another party.
Our Teach-It-Forward retreat is a member benefit. If you’re a member and you’re seeing this message, please click the Login link on the main menu. If you’re not a member – why not? Check us out and join today!
